Samuel Conte is the "golden boy" at Bremin High School who lives in the Real World. He was one of the Bremin Four who accompanied Felix during the school excursion, but ended up being transported to an Alternate World where he never existed. He is later revealed to have the elemental power of Air.

Personality[]

Described as the "party guy", Sam is the funny, cool, confident, all-rounder one of the group who seems to get on with everyone. However, he appears to be very dimwitted, with Felix describing him as an "airhead". Before entering the Alternate World, he was the boyfriend of Mia, but after the spell gone wrong, not only has she forgotten about him, but he has been replaced by an alternate Sam, named Sammy. He has a huge love for food, to the point where he is able to use his obsession to overcome hypnotism.

Out of the gang, Sam is the most open and friendly, with Felix describing him as a "social butterfly". He is the "golden boy" at Bremin High School, and is regarded as being the top couple with Mia. He is good friends with Jake even prior to the series. Sam is scarcely seen without his favorite cap, which he wears even when he's inside someone else's body.

Powers and abilities[]

Sam had the ability to generate powerful gusts of winds capable of blowing back people. Later on, he is shown creating a tornado that can suck people up.

Prior to the series, he displayed either second sight or precognition, and was able to stop a person from crashing into the door while his back was turned.

Biography[]

Season 1[]

Prior to the events of the series, Sam had quite a happy life. He had a mother who cooked his favorite dinners, a loving father and two funny brothers who teased, but loved him. He was also popular and had Mia as his girlfriend. He was also good friends with Jake.

Sam debuted as one of the main characters in Episode 1, along with Felix, Andy, and Jake. He is seen getting out of his families' car, talking with his mum and brothers. He soon goes up towards Mia, and starts kissing her, in which the nearby Felix and Ellen start pretending to gag. Sam and Mia celebrate their first anniversary on the bus, and is presented with a bracelet. Mia, however, looks unhappy when Sam forgets this and eats his apple while talking. When they get to the location, Sam notices Phoebe, the "witch lady", looking at them from a distance. Sam helps Jake with his 'race', but is forced back for Andy. Later on, he, along with the rest of the group, try to get out of the forest after falling down a cliff. Sam is shown to be extremely hungry during this, eating Andy's pawpaw cream and Roland's food in front of everyone. After getting back to Bremin, he meets his family at his house, who, unlike the rest of the boys, doesn't forget him. However, Pete and Vince never turn around to look at him, and his parents aren't present.

He is extremely unhelpful in Episode 5, when he spends all the busking money that he got from skating on chocolate instead of food for the rest of the boys. He finds he has been replaced by someone like him called Sammy Conte.

When Felix was revealed to be the one who sent them to the Alternate World, Sam becomes very resentful to Felix and contemplates letting the demon take him so they would be sent back. When he and the boys returned home, Sam was home, with his family and Mia to celebrate his return. He then took a huge sneeze and the washing line of clothes began to blow after he sneezed and he discover the wind element.

Season 2[]

Upon returning, Sam resumes his popular life and reunites with his girlfriend. She is eventually happy to have him back, and overlooks his secrecy. When Andy's disappearance is under investigation, she grows impatient that Sam continues to keep the truth from her.

Mia eventually breaks up with him, and meets Sam again when he switches bodies with Roland, although she doesn't know it. He then came face-to-face with Roland, who was in his own body. Felix reverses the spell and Sam returns to his body and is friends with him after the body-changing experience. After Andy returned, Sam sent a photo of himself and his friends to Roland.

Battle against Tegan[]

Sam, along with Jake, reluctantly agree to stay and help Felix and Andy split the talisman. Sam suggests that Felix give him a spell to fix his eyebrow, to which Felix replies that he can do the spell on his own. Along with the other three boys, Sam casts a spell to split the talisman. Sam questions what they should do. Andy replies that they should each take one piece of the talisman.

At Jake's football game, Sam uses his elemental power to send the football flying into the air so Jake's football teammate can't catch it. Jake confronts Sam about it and they start shoving each other, causing Felix to intervene and tell them to stop. He tells them about the girls also having elemental powers, then asks who the new girl is. Sam asks if he was referring to Tegan, who he says was the one who said Jake used his elemental power on him, causing Jake to realize that Tegan has played them.

In the lair, Sam talks with the boys and Oscar about Tegan. Felix mentions the ley lines where they opened the book and split the talisman, which led to Tegan's arrival, leading Andy to wonder if they brought her there. This leads Jake to remark to Sam that Felix and Andy are finishing each other's sentences. Oscar explains about that if chaos separates from order, the spiral of destruction will lead to the destruction of every world in the multiverse. Felix decides that they need to search the book to find something Tegan is afraid of. Sam asks Jake where he is going. Jake replies that he is going home to talk to his mother and get his piece of the talisman.

While making his way to Felix's house, Sam is approached by his brothers, who give him a burger and a drink. They offer to drive him home, but he refuses.

Sam goes with Jake to Felix's house, where they knock on the window to alert him, Andy, and Oscar to their presence.

When the boys get to Felix's house, Andy reveals that because Tegan is Chaos, they need to go into Negative Space to recruit Bear, who is Order. Sam questions if they will get stuck there like Andy did. Andy replies that Tegan can't the book if they take it with them. Jake says that they need to battle Tegan in order to protect the girls. The other boys disperse so Felix can cast a spell to open a portal to Negative Space, which Sam jumps into. He goes to rescue Phoebe, Alice, and Bear, while Felix, Andy, and Jake escape from a shadow creature that has appeared.

After leaving Negative Space, Sam drives to the school along with Phoebe to pick up Felix, Oscar, their father, Andy, Jake, and Ellen and take them to the field where Tegan is.

Sam and the other four boys cast a spell to negate the wormhole and free everyone from Tegan's control. Then after piecing together the talisman, they are about to send Tegan back to Negative Space, when Bear appears and teleports the talisman in Felix's hand away. He explains to Sam and the other four boys that he betrayed Tegan to become the Guardian, causing Sam to realize that Tegan is his sister, calling Tegan a "psycho", causing him to get hit in the arm by Felix. Along with the other four boys, Sam witnesses Bear and Tegan hug and teleport away.

Sam, along with the other three boys, Ellen, and Viv, are walking when he joins the other three boys in a group hug. Mia approaches Sam on her bike, expressing her relief that he was okay and telling him that she was looking for him, as the whole town was under Tegan's control. Encouraged by Jake to talk to Mia, Sam walks with her. Mia mentioned that she believed Sam had chosen what type of guy he wanted to be. Sam agreed that he did, then expressed his hope that Mia would like him.

Trivia[]

  • He was the only Nowhere Boy to get "replaced" by someone who isn't present in the Real World.
    • The fact that he was replaced in the Alternate World could be considered the worst outcome of all of them as he was unable to regain a proper relationship with the people he needed the most.
  • Sam's lack of intelligence is frequently mentioned in the show, especially by Felix, to the point where it's a running gag.
  • Out of the 4 boys, he is the one who is most well known and is the most popular in the normal universe. He soon realizes that Andy takes his spot in the Alternate World.
  • He doesn't like Felix or Andy at first, but later on, he realizes they are not too bad and trusts them more, especially Felix, who he calls "freak" in a joking way.
  • He's the most desperate to return home and thinks the rest of the boys want to stay in the Alternate World and eventually confronts them, explaining how he feels.
